On this tour, you will check out the unique, historic, charming town of Jerome, Arizona. On the way, you will have the opportunity to explore an ancient Sinagua Pueblo ruin, Tuzigoot National Monument. The name Tuzigoot means “crooked river”, as it sits above a bend of the Verde River. You will be fascinated, learning about these native people of the past.
For the rest of the day, you will then head to the unique town of Jerome, Arizona, where you will have time for lunch on your own. See a glimpse of what was once a wild west mining town, that is now a charming artist community. You will be surprised by the quirky, fun homes built right into the side of the Black Hills, and learn the folklore of this haunted town. You will visit relics of the old mining town and other interesting sites at both lower and upper Jerome. You will have time for shopping, the stores in Jerome have many unique items, and with the local artists who inhabit the town, you are sure to find artwork or crafts that you love.
Pickup Times / Locations:
Pickups at ALL Sedona hotels within the city limits.
Departure time is approximately 9:30AM, with pickups slightly before that depending on the specific guest hotel. Tour operator will contact guests 48 hours before for exact pickup time and answer any last minute questions.
Type of Transportation:
All of our vehicles will have large windows so you can enjoy the views with no obstruction. Although each of the vehicles is slightly different, the vehicle will be selected to maximize guest comfort, with full climate controlled and individual seating. No vehicle has more than 14 passengers to allow for a personal and intimate experience.
In addition, all vehicles have an audio PA system in order to maximize your entertainment experience while on-board.
Sorry no in-vehicle bathrooms are available but we make frequent stops where clean bathrooms are available.
Lunch / Dinner Options:
There are no meals included in this tour. Our guide however will be glad to point out our favorite restaurants and give recommendations based on your preferences.
What to Bring and Wear:
You should wear comfortable shoes, a hat to keep your head protected from the sun, sunglasses, and sunscreen. It may be cool in the early morning or evening and can get very hot in the afternoons. A light shirt, shorts and a rain jacket are recommended in warmer months. It does rain in Arizona so you may also want to carry an umbrella. Light day packs are great for carrying everything you will need and for filling up with all of the wonderful souvenirs that you will find at the many gift shops. Of course, don't forget your camera with plenty of film or memory.
We require that all children 4 and younger be in a car seat and is the responsibility of the guest.
Physical Activity Level:
Light. Very little walking is required since we are trying to cover as many scenic locations as possible.
Bottled water is provided, but guests are welcome to bring alternate beverages and snacks. Please no alcohol is permitted.
